BUG: Open box character (␣) in strings from export API
There open open box character (␣) is shown in the POEditor UI as a hint to editors that there's a leading or trailing space, but we are getting these leading and/or trailing open box characters in the strings exported by the API

Good news!

Good news: the ␣ character is no longer copy-able from the terms. We've also changed the notification in case the translator types it in, to make it clearer that it should probably not be there.

Ok, all clear now. Thank you for the idea, we are on it!

Sorry for the lack of clarity and my typos. What I meant to ask is for the visual cue of the leading/trailing open box characters (␣) to be implemented in such a way that they are NOT real copy-able text characters (perhaps via and image or CSS)

We're not sure we understand what you are asking for.
Is it a a notification like this one? https://poeditor.com/public/f/String_Length.png
If yes, we already have a tooltip/bubble like this appearing when the ␣ is typed by the translator. -

Okay so it sounds like our translators somehow copying the open box chars which is kinda "user error" on our side. But I would suggest (ok I'm begging) that the POEditor admin should somehow implement this visual cue in the UI with using real copy-able characters.

The ␣ symbol is just displayed in the interface, to let translators know that there are whitespaces in the terms. We don't add that symbol to your terms, you can check this in the terms of your exported file.
If the translators aren't aware of what that symbol signifies in the terms, they may type it in the translations. That is why we display that message ('Careful! We use ␣ to mark leading/trailing whitespaces!'), so they don't copy the symbol to the translations.
If you don't want to have them in the exported file, please instruct your translators not to add the symbols to the translations.
