For projects which aren't public, they need to be assigned by the project's owner or by an admin.

We chose to do this as it’s a valid and recommended ( http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/string-resource.html#FormattingAndStyling ) way of storing HTML in Android resource files and it covers all the cases in which HTML is present. We know that <b> <i> and <u>, for example, work even if they are not escaped.
Changing this may harm the behavior of some of our clients’ applications.
From what we know on this matter, Android developers use the fromHtml() method when they expect a string that contains HTML.

Our platform manages plurals based on each language.
We try to adapt each translation to what (native) translators might expect, and guide ourselves by the same link you shared: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/latest/supplemental/language_plural_rules.html
As you can see, Unicode recommends just one form for Chinese.
If you want custom plurals for a language, note that you can create Custom languages: https://poeditor.com/kb/custom-languages
Custom languages inherit the plural forms from an existing language of your choice.
An error occurred while saving the comment We follow the CLDR required plural rules because there is software out there that does not allow custom plural forms (and in the case custom forms appear in the language file, the software throws errors).
However, if you would like to use custom plurals, you can do this by creating custom languages (https://poeditor.com/kb/custom-languages ), and choosing to inherit the plural rules from an existing language in POEditor which has the plural forms you need.
For example, you can create a custom Chinese language, and choose to get plural rules from Arabic (which has 6 plural forms).
Since Arabic has more plural forms than you need, you can leave the forms you don't need empty, or fill them in with any text if you want the language completion in POEditor to be 100%.

An error occurred while saving the comment The context of the term does not have anything to do with the Markdown preview. If you have Markdown in a translation, go to the end of the translation and hover your mouse over it (without clicking in the translation box). You'll see a small eye icon, which if you click, will enable the preview.

An error occurred while saving the comment Translators are notified when they exceed the length of the original string and when they exceed double its length: https://poeditor.com/kb/visual-notifications-for-translators
Any indications regarding how a string should be translated, including its exact length, can be added in the comment section: https://poeditor.com/kb/using-the-comment-system
It is worth noting that comments are visible across all languages and that the first comment is preserved during export/import. -

In case you didn't know about this option, please note that it is possible to edit terms in the View or Add Terms page: https://poeditor.com/kb/view-or-add-terms
Updating a term in the View or Add Terms page allows you to also use the Set all translations as fuzzy option. Checking this option and pressing Save sets a fuzzy flag on all the existing translations for the term that is edited. This way, translators can make any necessary updates directly on the existing translations and you don't have to copy any translations.

All you have to do is click on Edit Profile, edit the Name field, and then press 'Save your profile'.
It is not possible to change the name of another user. -

After you set the links between the GitHub language files and the corresponding languages in POEditor, anyone can trigger the updates both ways: to get the terms (and translations) from GitHub and to export the translations in POEditor to the linked file in your repos. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Unfortunately, POEditor can't currently support .stringsdict because unlike any other language file format supporting plurals out there, Apple's plurals are not forms of the source string, but forms of the variable in the string.
This makes it incompatible with the other formats and because POEditor is built around the project, you wouldn't be able to export for other platforms maintaining the same information. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Unicode used to have 3 plural forms for Russian until a while ago, but then they switched to 4 forms (the fourth added being for decimals): http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/latest/supplemental/language_plural_rules.html#ru
POEditor is up-to-date with Unicode's standard, so all Russian languages added after 2015-12-08 to our platform have 4 plural forms.
From our knowledge, Gettext does not support decimals, but it usually ignores the fourth form.

An error occurred while saving the comment We use \n instead of whitespaces because of a bug in Xcode related to the XLIFF file import.
Not working with XLIFF ourselves, we don't know if this bug has been fixed in the meantime, but a few months ago, exporting with whitespace would have given you something like this:
https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/21518Unfortunately, we don't have a solution, other than replacing the \n in the exported file with whitespaces, and then trying to import the file in XCODE.

Practically, all project members are contributors, but some have more access to the project than others, according to the rights granted to them.

Newly added terms go to the end of your project's terms list in POEditor, and not at random. This is the expected behavior.
