Open community without accounts and logins
I don't like the idea of having to invite specific people, and asking them to create accounts. That really sucks. I'd rather have an open link I can place on my website, then allow people to log in with Google (which is kind of obvious they will have an account as they're Mobile users, androids, iOSes..) or Facebook or other. Less pain for them to collaborate. First thing they see? Their actual language of browsing (look at browsers locale) and the textes they already have seen on the apps... makes sense? Getting people to collaborate is not easy! So kind…

Add languages for ISO 639-3
I think it would make sense to go the step towards universal usability and add the option to add languages that are identified by their code according to ISO 639-3. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639-3). You still can restrict automatic translations etc. to more common ones.

Global Comments
Comments on complete Project for direct communication with the Project Owner about the Translation.
for Example:"Translation is at 100% but please give me some more days to check some Translations one more time. I am not sure there."

Pre-flight check
It would be useful if I could (before exporting, or in a separate menu) make a quick check for a language and receive a warning if:
- the original starts or ends with a space, and the translation doesn't (or vice versa)
- the original starts or ends with a line break, and the translation doesn't (or vice versa)
- the number of placeholders (% signs, %s) is different in the original than in the translation
The filter would then show the phrases that have issues.8 votes -

Custom file format
A nice function to add would be custom file format, I for example use a modified java .properties file without spaces, so it would be a convenience to be able to specify the format for loading terms and exporting languages.
It could be a simple project setting that could look like:
{term}={translation}\n
which would essentially be a .properties without spaces. Other keywords could be {context}, {definition}, {reference} and anything else the system can process.
This idea could be expanded, here are some more ideas that could be perhaps worth considering although they aren't as important:
"User formats", which would be…

Bulk auto-translate an updated term or terms
When a single term is updated for the reference language, it would be nice if you could auto-translate and update all the other languages instead of having to do the entire set of terms again one by one per language.

Clear a single term when the reference language is updated
When you update a term in the reference language, I can't see how to clear the other languages so they're empty. If this is not possible, it would be a helpful feature.

Hovering over comment icon to see comment
If the project manager or the translator wants to check the comments left for a particular string, he/she has to open each comment box individually It would be good if one could just see the latest comment by hovering the mouse on the comment icon (like in Excel) or have it visible at all times without having to open the box.

Use the entire sentence to carry out a search
Currently, poEditor only take a string ID or one word of the content which is not easy as most of the time, it is the entire sentence which is known to us, no the string ID.

Comment from Android string file behind string
It's great that POEditor imports comments from Android strings.xml files. However, it assumes that the comments are in front of the string. We have so far followed this format, after the string:
<string name="Exit">Exit</string><!-- exit the application -->
Would be nice to have an option for importing/exporting it like that. Having the comment in the line above (and an extra blank line before) is IMHO a space-wasting layout.

Auto Translate, Auto Pay
I'm a new user and I found you through an "auto translate .po" search. I'm trying to auto translate the terms in a file but I'm unable to do so. I get prompted that my document is +18k characters and my account is limited to 10k. while I think that's okay, I would like to be able to auto-translate up to my 10k character limit. This will let me make an informed purchase decision otherwise it's hard to make a choice to pay when I have no idea if the auto translate feature is great, good, acceptable or a pass.

Turkish
Translation into Turkish uses Turkish letters which is not easy to find on most keyboards so I suggest keep Western keyboard letters when translating into Turkish

Switch layout of terms and reference text
Hi!
It would be cool if after setting a reference language the text of that language would go into the main text field and the term would be shown in the small grey box.
This way the important information (text in the reference language) would be more readable and the feature would be more useful for translating labels.

Sort and show #:
The po file format allows for the "#:" line to reflect where a line of text came from. This allows for context for the translator.
(My alternative is to create ~40 "projects", times ~15 languages.. which is quite an administrative burden!)

PO Editor in other languages
Working with colleagues from other countries on a collaborative translation project, it would be great if the PO Editor back-end was available in more than only the English language.
Rather appropriate for a translation tool, I would think... ;)

Pricing Issues
I think you should have a lower pricing model for the longer term. Our company would perhaps use this software in the long term, but we're only going to be in active development/translation for the next few weeks. We'll revisit now and then as we add more languages, but the monthly pricing gets a little steep for us to retain the service on an ongoing basis, considering we won't use it for in months.

How to add items located a db table ?
Hi guys,
how have I to add items in the poEdit and then in the PO Editor getting them from a db table ?
My project get some items from the database table, for instance "statuses" table. These items are loaded from the php application and they are sent in the web view in this way:
<?php
echo $this->translate($status['name']);?>
PoEdit doesn't connect itself to a db, so how have I to do?
thanks
