API limitation when having lot of modules
We have an android project with 30 modules (growing as we add new features) and 4 languages. Each module has its own strings, which we separate using tags in POEditor.
However this means when we want to update all strings in the project from the POEditor API we have to make a separate export call for each module and language. this means 30*4 = 120 export api calls then 120 file downloads. This is getting slow to execute, also we probabaly started to hit the API call limitations sometimes when updating everything.
Is there a way to export the…

Button for Advanced search
Please add some advanced search button or create some easily accessible help. Users who don't use poeditor daily can't remember your specific syntax and it's always hard to find related KB for it.

Error assigning Team
I tried to assign a team to a project, but I got an error (project not accepting...) and it told me to contact you. Instead I had to assign them one-by-one.

BUG: bad Encoding between Figma and POEditor
Several months ago, I could do a copy past between Figma and POEditor to find the term linked to a text. But for several months, now if a text includes the character " ' ", the search bar doesn't work anymore. It looks like that you are using a different character set.

Obsolete Terms
When there is an obsolete term you should show the full path to the term. reasoning is due to there could be multiple terms with the same key if the terms are built from nested objects of json

Wrong format for Xliff file export
Hello,
It seems the output format for XLIFF files when exporting from your platform is missing the resname attribute on trans-unit node. This is currently blocking us from integrating some translations on your platform as we are relying on library for using these translations that need this attribute. Do you have any idea for an estimated time of arrival on this request feature?1 vote -
Bug: order of terms in .po file is not respected
Hi, I just noticed a bug with .po file import/export, which is related to the order of terms in the file.
POEditor does not keep the order of terms in the original .po file after import, and shows them in a different order. As a result, when the file gets exported back to the repo, all the terms there are messed up, which causes a huge diff and A LOT of merge conflicts when trying to integrate the file exported from POEditor back into our project.
It does not help exporting with A-Z sorting rule, as this is still not…

Reimporting term should overwrite all categories and not create a duplicate term
When reimporting terms/translations/context with updates, if there is a change in context - POEditor will duplicate the term and create a fresh entry rather than overwriting all categories being imported. This make mass updating of context impossible.
3 votesKindly note that the uniqueness of a term is given by the term-context pair: https://poeditor.com/kb/duplicate-terms
Therefore, if you import the same term with a different context via the UI, a new term will be created.
However, if you want to update the context of an existing term in your project, you can use the API with this method: https://poeditor.com/docs/api#terms_update

Draft/Published version of terms/translations
This allows to collaborate on new revised translations, while still having the last agreed "productive" translation present in the APIs.
Then you know the last official published verson of the text, but have a draft, that can be modified until it is "published" again.
Currently a text in status "proofread" is there but once changed (because in discussion) the last "proofread" version is not accessible.
Setting proofread will then copy the current text into the official "published" version.

Hello POEditors
I am trying to input plurals for terms in all languages on one project. But I can only input plural on main language.
I am seen this image (https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/po-kbpic/Language_Page_Arabic_Plural_Forms.png), but there is no option for this type of plurals.
Is there any way for me to input plural translate for all languages ?
Is there maybe some external software for your api ?Please answer.
Thx :)1 vote -
JSON order not respected
I imported a first pass on my JSON. The import follow my its order.
But then some new fields have been added in the middle of the JSON for human readability.
Unfortunately, when importing the new fields they go at the end.
It would be nice if that keep continue to follow the JSON order
1 voteThank you for your suggestion.
By default, terms are listed in your POEditor project in the order in which they were initially imported.
As for new terms, they are added at the end of the already imported terms.
For the time being, the only option to re-order terms in a project is alphabetically (Terms A-Z and Terms Z-A) in the language page: https://poeditor.com/kb/how-to-filter-strings-localization-project
These filters can also be used on export.

Add another language to an existing project
I'm finding it unexpectedly challenging to add another language to the list of languages I'm working with for a given project.
1 votePlease send us an email at info@poeditor.com specifying the email address you're using with your POEditor account and the project where you want to add a new language.
We're suspecting you don't have the right role to do this.

Add 'Translations' button to Translations search results
After I search for a phrase in the 'Translations' tab, it would be great if there was a Translations button (just the way it is in the Terms tab), so that I can quickly check if the phrase I was searching for already has the other translations filled. If it does not have other translations, I would simply press on the Translations button in order to add the missing translations.
The way it works currently: I have to go to the 'Translations' tab, press on 'English', then search for my phrase, then copy the relevant term from the search results,…

Disable disappearing items while hovering over table
After setting a translation, we sometimes get hints/warnings of potential problems (red text below the translation), e.g. because of a different number of periods.
These hints disappear after a number of seconds. When the hints disappear, the table row they were in suddenly takes up less space, causing the whole UI to shift around.
When actively translating and/or proofreading, it happens surprisingly often that the hints for a previously processed row disappear a fraction of a second before I want to click somewhere else in the table, causing everything to shift around and me to click on something I didn't…

Add Shortcut For Save
Your tools is very cool :)
I think you should add to shortcut for fast translation. For example; i translate texts on table, when i click to cmd+enter should save automatically.
1 voteTranslations are saved automatically when you exit a translation box.
If your focus is in a translation box. you can use the TAB key to move to the next empty translation box.
If your focus is in a translation box, you can use the Esc key to exit the translation box and then the TAB key to move to the next row (regardless of whether it has a translation or if it is empty). Then you can hit Enter to be able to start typing inisde the translation box.

API is very slow to respond
Hi,
Our server in Singapore is experiencing (around 10 Jul 2023 10:00 GMT) a very slow connection to POEditor API (The connection can be established successfully). We can access other website or services as normal. So we are here to ask whether the POEditor has some network issue. Thank you!1 voteWe recommend you avoid exact hours, because that is when the API is most crowded.

Bulk QA
I would like a way to run QA checks for all translations across all languages. My project is just a hobby and I'm the only administrator for over 1000 translations. It is very hard to ensure that the contributors, who are often inexperienced, get quotes and ellipses right. I can correct them manually but that means I have to run QA for each language to find the issues.
