  1. A nice function to add would be custom file format, I for example use a modified java .properties file without spaces, so it would be a convenience to be able to specify the format for loading terms and exporting languages.

    It could be a simple project setting that could look like:

    {term}={translation}\n

    which would essentially be a .properties without spaces. Other keywords could be {context}, {definition}, {reference} and anything else the system can process.

    This idea could be expanded, here are some more ideas that could be perhaps worth considering although they aren't as important:

    • "User formats", which would be…

  2. When a single term is updated for the reference language, it would be nice if you could auto-translate and update all the other languages instead of having to do the entire set of terms again one by one per language.

  3. When you update a term in the reference language, I can't see how to clear the other languages so they're empty. If this is not possible, it would be a helpful feature.

  4. Hi,

    I would like to know if I suscribe to the 44,99$ program and if I don't use the entire number of strings, will they reported to the next months?

    Best regards,
    Sebastien B.

  5. If the project manager or the translator wants to check the comments left for a particular string, he/she has to open each comment box individually It would be good if one could just see the latest comment by hovering the mouse on the comment icon (like in Excel) or have it visible at all times without having to open the box.

  6. Currently, poEditor only take a string ID or one word of the content which is not easy as most of the time, it is the entire sentence which is known to us, no the string ID.

  7. It's great that POEditor imports comments from Android strings.xml files. However, it assumes that the comments are in front of the string. We have so far followed this format, after the string:

    <string name="Exit">Exit</string><!-- exit the application -->

    Would be nice to have an option for importing/exporting it like that. Having the comment in the line above (and an extra blank line before) is IMHO a space-wasting layout.

  8. I'm a new user and I found you through an "auto translate .po" search. I'm trying to auto translate the terms in a file but I'm unable to do so. I get prompted that my document is +18k characters and my account is limited to 10k. while I think that's okay, I would like to be able to auto-translate up to my 10k character limit. This will let me make an informed purchase decision otherwise it's hard to make a choice to pay when I have no idea if the auto translate feature is great, good, acceptable or a pass.

  9. Translation into Turkish uses Turkish letters which is not easy to find on most keyboards so I suggest keep Western keyboard letters when translating into Turkish

  10. Hi!

    It would be cool if after setting a reference language the text of that language would go into the main text field and the term would be shown in the small grey box.

    This way the important information (text in the reference language) would be more readable and the feature would be more useful for translating labels.

  12. The po file format allows for the "#:" line to reflect where a line of text came from. This allows for context for the translator.

    (My alternative is to create ~40 "projects", times ~15 languages.. which is quite an administrative burden!)

  13. Working with colleagues from other countries on a collaborative translation project, it would be great if the PO Editor back-end was available in more than only the English language.

    Rather appropriate for a translation tool, I would think... ;)

  14. I think you should have a lower pricing model for the longer term. Our company would perhaps use this software in the long term, but we're only going to be in active development/translation for the next few weeks. We'll revisit now and then as we add more languages, but the monthly pricing gets a little steep for us to retain the service on an ongoing basis, considering we won't use it for in months.

  15. Hi guys,

    how have I to add items in the poEdit and then in the PO Editor getting them from a db table ?

    My project get some items from the database table, for instance "statuses" table. These items are loaded from the php application and they are sent in the web view in this way:

    <?php

    echo $this->translate($status['name']);

    ?>

    PoEdit doesn't connect itself to a db, so how have I to do?

    thanks

  16. As a project owner I like to receive notifications on new comments in my private mailbox. Right now we specified our company info@ e-mailadress in our account for billing purposes, but it is unwanted to also receive notification e-mails at that address.

    It would be nice to be able to specifiy 1 or more e-mailadresses per project for notifications.

  17. Follow up on
    http://poeditor.uservoice.com/forums/171919-general/suggestions/3442561-comments-visibility

    The comments to the terms are usually inserted in the code (you know better what to comment during coding).

    Those comments are for example marked in PHP with ///m and they get captured in the pot file.

    Those comments should be visible to translators by default.
    It seems that now is not.

    This is different from comments added in POEditor

    Thanks

  18. It would be great to have the files exported as enEN or en-EN (option) with another option to be able to prefix it or not with the project name. For Wordpress projects it needs to come down as enEN so at the moment we have to rename every file :(

    1. How does one enter tab (\t) characters into the translated text?

    2. Would it be possible to show tabs in the original text, so translators would know that they are there?
